Behr's Metalmark (Apodemia virgulti) is one of only a handful of metalmark butterflies found within the San Diego area.
Its intense orange and brown patterning makes this somewhat small butterfly quite distinguishable. The caterpillars feed on California Buckwheat (Eriogonum fasciculatum) and adults are not usually seen to far from this plant.
