The Coyote (Canis latrans) is found throughout
North America from Alaska to New England and south to Panama.
It originally ranged primarily in the northwest corner of the US, but
it has adapted readily to the changes caused by human occupation and,
in the past 200 years, has been steadily extending its range.
On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I spotted this coyote resting on the hillside.
I took a few pictures and decided I wanted a closer shot. I began calling
him. First his ears perked up, then he got up and slowly walked toward
me. As you can see he came
fairly close.
