The Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) is a very common bird. It can be found in every one of the lower 48 states, much of Mexico, Canada and Alaska. Doves usually mate for life and travel together in flocks to protect themselves. They are easy to identify with the males sad cooing call. Doves eat seeds that can be found on the bare ground.
