Lazy Man's Ranch is located at 2004 W Road, Lowell Township in Kearney County, Nebraska. The barn was probably constructed in the 1920's or early 30's. The story has it that, Walt Sheldon, a successful farmer in the 1930's was owner of this property. He liked to go to town and play poker frequently, which did not especially please Mrs. Sheldon. One day
a painter came by and was looking for some work. Mr. Sheldon was off occupied with his pass-time, playing poker.
Mrs. Sheldon told the painter he could paint the name "Lazy Man's Ranch" on the haymow door. It has been known as that ever since then. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Janette Kuehn
